Aston Villa FC Fan Advisory Board

A new voluntary role, with my beloved football team

Following an interview process over the summer months, I recently accepted a position on Aston Villa FC’s Fan Adivsory Board. As a lifelong supporter of Villa, this is a huge honour for me and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity.

Our first meeting with the club took place in August, where I met my fellow board members for the first time and along with representatives from the club and the Premier League. We’ve since held a couple of internal meetings ahead of our next FAB meeting with Aston Villa in mid-October.

There is lots to do, and we’ve already organised ourselves around some working groups. I’ll be working in the Culture group, assisting the club, supporters and affiliated organisations in matters related to history and heritage, EDI, and community initiatives. The board has also established working groups related to Ticketing, the AVFC Women’s team, Fan Engagement, and Accessibility.

The rest of the board are all - like me - lifelong supporters who feel equally proud to be representing our beloved team in this way. Our internal conversations have been productive so far, and alongside establishing ways of working and setting up the various Working Groups, we’re also in the process of setting up our own website and other comms channels so that we can engage with and represent the wider Villa fan base.

You can read more about the newly formed FAB in this article on the Villa website.
